Elizabeth Wickham

From school I went straight to The University of Birmingham to study Theoretical Physics and Applied Maths. I did however have other ideas in the back of my mind and had investigated the institutions sports facilities. On my arrival I promptly joined the gymnastics and trampolining club. So I trained and studied and when my MSci degree ended positively I chose to stay on, train and study some more, this time towards a Phd in Gravitational Wave Astrophysics. Gradually I realised that after the PhD (now completed since June last year) I would want to continue in the gymnastics and trampolining direction and fortunately the 8 years of experience I had accumulated was enough to secure a place on my current course, a Foundation degree (leading to a BA) in Circus Arts at The Circus Space in London. It is now that my underlying interest in physical performance is finally being explored and with this job I hope to discover more about how performance and science can interact. Given my background I am looking forward to being involved as much as possible in the further development of science inspired arts projects.
