With Thanks
This short dance film’s concept came from the gratitude felt towards female trailblazers.
Trailblazers both past and present that have impacted the development of legal rights for pregnant employees. Blog posts by working pregnant dancers, along with the imagery of Suffragette lyrics and posters inspired some of the movement. The movement material was created with the pregnant performer and choreographed for filming.
The pregnant dancer was shot against a green screen, new backgrounds were chosen and keyed in, the resulting footage was colour treated, some sections using animated masks to separate colour treatments. Composited in AfterEffects.

The Broom Dance
This is footage of The mAy Team 2018 & 2019 live performances of 'The Broom Dance'.
The mAy Team is a dance group with members from across the UK. The team assembles at different events to perform showcases and deliver participatory workshops. The choreographic brief was to create a dance that could be easily learnt and adapted. Adaptability is necessary regardless of the number of dancers and which members of the team are present for the performance.
